Promotional Web Video for Business

Whitehead & Howarth Accountants hired me to produce a short promotional video for their website and social media pages, it was a very short shoot at their offices in St Annes and we also had the chance to use some old cine film from when the original owners worked in the same office. Headshot Photography

Ruth Moran Consulting Agency asked me to produce a set of team head shots for their website and social media pages, the only request “Can we make them all Black & White”, not a problem…..

The only slight problem was the amount of room we had to shoot in, the pictures were taken in a cloakroom which wasn’t ideal but this is quite common when shooting at a client’s office.

At Last, a wedding were I did not need to use The Sat-Nag to find my way 🙂

The weather was just about on our side for the group photos and i gotta say Jason was a natural when it came to the shots, i just pointed the camera and from no where, ‘Catalogue Pose’!

It was the details which really made this wedding for me (some you will have seen in the video) smokey drinks?, skull & crossbones and the personalised desserts which The Leyland Hotel prepared.

Now i have to mention the dance floor…. Break Dancing, Dirty Dancing (the lift move), Austin Powers, they did it all and very funny it was 🙂

A great wedding and a fun day to shoot!

80’s Disco: Katy Holmes Trust

I popped along to the 80’s disco last night to capture some of the fun and raise a bit of money for the Katy Holmes Trust.

The props case proved as popular as ever at these sort of events, it’s quite funny to see grown men waving lightsabres around whilst wearing pink wigs…

Or even a hybrid YMCA-Frankie creation!

Purple Pig provided the catering and we both had the pleasure of judging the best fancy dress, Adam Ant and Beetlejuice if you were wondering.

A really fun night for a great cause 🙂

Lancashire Event Videography

South Ribble Partnerships held their first ‘Big Do’ networking event last month. I had a nice little booth set up were I was to record business owners selling themselves which would be projected onto the big screen during the evening but due to the fact we had a few (very talented) music artists on that day, we were quickly drowned out, so we made a decision to do a bit of event filming and use it as a promotional tool for all involved.

Whenever I record people directly in front of the camera it always amazes me how they go from a ‘bag of nerves’ to ‘Anchorman’ as soon as the record button is pressed.
Guest speakers for the event were Fettle Pr & DigiEnable.
A bit of a surprise for myself was to be nominated for an award which was eventually won by someone much more worthy to be honest.

Leyland Promotional Photography

APC Overnight who have been a big part of this year’s Leyland Festival asked me to pop down to take a few photos for local publications, I would hesitate to call this work as it turned into a laugh riot for everyone behind the camera at the expense of the poor (Willing) guys they dressed up that day.

Photo Booth

Finally, I attended Balshaws High School Spring Fayre and set up a little photo booth were the kids could dress up and have their photos taken…

This weekend it is Leyland Festival and I’ll be around town all day recording all the fun which I will share in the usual places when completed. If you see me about then please come and say hello and get yourself in the film…

BTW i can’t go without mentioning that my wifes company Purple Pig Catering will be on the festival serving these gems 🙂

Family Shoot

“I think we should do this sort of pose now”!…..

William (boy in shot) certainly didn’t mind directing me when i visited his family for an indoor and outdoor shoot, one cold December morning.

Molly on the other hand decided to be the bad cop in this relationship but with the help of some music, simulated fart noises and her brother making her laugh behind the lens, we managed to get some pretty decent shots of her.

After the studio shots we all took a trip down to Cuerden Valley Park for a few fun group shots…

A few days before this shoot i decided to have a quick play around and as usual, Yves was dragged into the middle but that is because she is so damn photogenic!!!

Last weekend i shot my penultimate wedding video for 2012 which i will be sharing here next week (hopefully), but you can catch a short clip of the rehearsal here on my facebook page.

THANK GOD FOR RAW!

As I was backing up files from recent shoots, I looked at a ‘before & after’ image and spontaneously whispered to myself “thank god for RAW’…
This particular shoot took place at a friend’s salon after a very long working day so I was running on fumes from there on! The room I was setting up in was boiling and I had to set up my strobes, build 2 soft boxes (which are like lampshades designed by Rubik’s), background frame, take a few light readings & set up the camera before Jodie came upstairs after her make-over.
Obviously running around like a headless chicken meant the chances of forgetting something was pretty high!
WHITE BALANCE!

Yes, I was so busy concentrating on sharpness when reviewing the images that I had already shot half the pictures with the wrong white balance setting. Now this isn’t really a big deal if your shooting in RAW because its easily corrected in post production…

but again I say the words,

Thank God For RAW 🙂
